Small device - big effect.
An interplay of architecture, craftsmanship and ecology.
Now it's finally here, the little device that makes architects' hearts beat faster. Inconspicuously small, yet with a big impact - the BLK360 3D laser scanner from Leica is the new gadget from our designers in Innsbruck.
In planning processes, the architecture firm is keen to combine different tools in order to vary representations and make the emotional level of the projects visible. Until now, this has included techniques such as 2D views and sections, 3D visualizations, but also hand-drawn sketches. This is exactly where the 3D laser scanner comes in.
At the touch of a button, the BLK360 captures 360-degree images with high dynamic range (HDR) and performs a laser scan at 360,000 points per second. Precise point clouds and detailed images of the interior are created for as-built measurements and documentation. What used to take many hours of work can now be done in no time at all.
Thanks to the 3D laser scanner, many building documentation processes can now be designed more efficiently and accurately. For example, the laser scan results can be used to derive volumes, areas, floor plans and sections and, above all, precise actual conditions of an object.
Another plus: our clients can also benefit from the new technology in the future. For example, VR - virtual reality systems - can be used to transform the real world into virtual worlds, helping to illustrate projects. Details can also be checked during a virtual tour.
