Ecological house extension and historic inn planning.
rb Illustrierte, July 2018.
In the July 2018 issue of rb Illustrierte we present a extension of a detached house in Landeck and the Romediwirt inn in Thaur.
The house extension is situated in an idyllic location in the middle of nature and with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains, which immediately creates the basic conditions for a cozy atmosphere. The aim of the project was to unite two generations under one roof, offer individual retreats and yet create a harmonious coexistence. For this project, it was particularly important to the owners to choose an ecological construction method in order to avoid the use of chemical or petroleum-based materials for the most part. Accordingly, natural materials such as clay and regional woods were preferred for the realization. A uniform façade made of larch wood forms a common shell in which both generations find their place, but still symbolize a unity.
The Romediwirt inn in Thaur is located at an altitude of around 800m in a picturesque setting. In order to emphasize this perfectly and underline the historically valuable character of the surroundings, an inn with an integrated exhibition room was to be built. We made it our guiding principle to refer to the essence of the project in the planning and to take into account external factors such as the client, the natural landscape and the history of the surroundings.
