Homage to alpinism.

In the October 2017 issue of rb Illustrierte, we present our project "Homage to Alpinism".

A love of the mountains and nature combined with industrial technology is the fundamental guiding principle behind the approx. 150 m² extension to a hotel in the Stubai Valley. The style, the choice of materials and the treatment of views define the "homage to alpinism". The extension of the building was integrated into the existing development and only minimally changed on the outside. A productive analysis of the roof shape led to the concept of reacting to the roof landscape instead of ignoring it completely. The extended body therefore picks up on the dormers and the pitched roof. On the one hand, the existing shape of the roof is intelligently implemented in the interior and, on the other hand, the exterior shape remains as unchanged as possible, so that the house is brought into harmony with the surroundings and the existing roof. The characteristic edges and lines of the roof construction are thus reflected in the interior and also transport the essence of the mountain landscape directly into the interior of the home.
