A new building was required that would provide sufficient space for the primary school as well as the kindergarten and crèche. The proposed design takes up the traditional grain and proportions of the site and interprets them in a contemporary way in the new spatial program. The clever positioning of the building volume on the site creates maximum open spaces and ensures sufficient distance from the existing building as well as an appropriate arrangement in relation to the forecourt.
The location in the middle of agricultural land and steeply sloping terrain significantly characterize the shape of the building. The inclination of the roof eaves also creates a characteristic identification within the urban fabric.
The height development is based on the existing topography and structures the spatial program with a clear, functional flow: The first floor accommodates an open common area, while the cluster of the elementary school is located on the upper floor and the kindergarten and crèche cluster on the garden floor.
A particular focus was placed on sustainability and contemporary learning when designing the layout.
The shared first floor is accessed via the forecourt and the covered arrival deck. A transparent and openly designed meeting and access zone creates an overview, calm and orientation. This multifunctional zone separates and connects both the elementary school on the upper floor and the kindergarten with the crèche on the garden floor.
If required, the exercise room and the lunch table can be combined into an extended room for various activities - including a covered terrace.
The schoolyard is also accessible from the first floor. It is accessed directly via the checkrooms and offers opportunities to relax, move and learn outdoors.
The elementary school cluster on the upper floor offers flexible and individual usage options for classes and learning landscapes, ensuring maximum openness and even the dissolution of traditional classrooms. The spacious and light-flooded learning landscape, with breathtaking views, thus offers a high quality of stay for future users.
In the kindergarten and crèche cluster, the focus is on openness and permeability. A terrace incision is inserted between the two units, providing attractive views and extending the interior to the outside area. The children can access the outdoor area directly via an outdoor checkroom.
The clever embedding of the building creates spacious and protected areas for the different age groups, which are ideal for playing and moving around.
The new building is to be realized in a mixed construction of concrete and wood, whereby the highest possible proportion of wood construction is desirable. Only local materials are to be used for the interiors in order to create a warm and child-friendly atmosphere.
The project aims to create a contemporary education and care facility that blends seamlessly into the existing environment and fully meets the needs of the village community.
