This special detached house was built on a spacious plot on a gentle slope in a dignified courtyard style with modern elements and a contrasting interior design.
The building is a solid construction made of fired bricks. The monolithic wall construction means that no additional insulation is required. Petroleum-based insulating materials were avoided as far as possible throughout the design.
Modern lines meet a typical gabled roof with cornice, giving the house the appearance of a widow and thus a more modern rural character.
It was important to the client to separate the garage building from the main building and thus create a kind of courtyard situation. They also wanted the house to be accessible from two sides. Due to the hillside location, it was possible to create an underground entrance for the residents through the garage and an entrance for guests on the first floor.
One of the main focuses of the design was the vertical development. The self-supporting internal staircase not only connects the floors, but also becomes a sculpture. The metalwork construction made of raw steel with wooden steps represents the craftsmanship and becomes a main design element of the interior.
Storage and ancillary rooms as well as a fitness room are located in the basement. An office, guest rooms and the communal rooms are located on the first floor of the building.
The open-plan living, cooking and dining area on the first floor is generously proportioned and offers plenty of space for spending time together. The individual rooms have been separated on the upper floor with their own bathrooms and dressing rooms.
The L-shaped floor plan on the first floor creates a covered terrace on the south-west side of the house with access to the outdoor pool.
The body of the living room has a very modern design and, with its floor plan and flat roof, is reminiscent of a kind of free form. The same design principle can also be found in the entrance area. A play of modern and original styles gives the house that certain something.
The interior was designed by Stephanie Thatenhorst and impresses with bold, large-scale colors. The design creates an exciting contrast to the exterior appearance of the house.
This house is a wonderful example of how crossovers of different styles and materials can work, resulting in unique projects with a personal touch.
