Smart Alpine

Smart Alpin.
Hotel construction meets mountain backdrop.

For our design of the Carpe Solem apartment resort in Rauris near Salzburg, it was important to create a large, familiar and high-quality recreational space and to design logistically sensible and stylish building structures. The mountain range towering above the resort served as the starting point for the architectural development. The entire complex is based on this fixed point and follows its structure.

The apartment resort with 79 luxurious vacation apartments offers up to 300 guests relaxation, cultural history and a homely vacation atmosphere with the highest standards. The living, spa, fitness and restaurant areas extend over 700m² in rectangular complexes. The alpine influence is expressed both in the design of the details and in the holistic construction of the building. The asymmetrical arrangement of the elongated and transversely aligned gabled roofs is based on the peaks and spikes of the mountain ridge above.

The smart alpine interior design runs through the entire hotel complex. The large roof terrace is quietly nestled between the ridges of the roofs, while inside, generous glazing in the public areas enables a direct interaction between the guest and the vast surroundings. The use of local larch wood and Rauris stone rounds off the reference to the surroundings in detail.

Access to the outdoors creates a playful relationship between the building and its surroundings. The south-west-facing sun terrace on the ground floor, for example, creates a spacious and harmonious transfer between the building and the property. To ensure this type of communication on an individual level, each of the units, which measure between 35m² and 105m², has its own balcony. The Carpe Solem Rauris project proves that hotel construction and spaciousness can be reconciled with tranquillity, retreat and relaxation thanks to clever building structures and room layouts.

We supported this project from concept to design and were responsible for the façade design and architectural details; an architect from Salzburg was responsible for the official and structural planning. This is how this project was realized together.
